Workshops, Lectures & More
Lectures & Trunk Shows
I offer two lectures to quilt guilds:
Claudia Shearer Quilts | My Improv Journey is a 1-hour lecture of my journey as a modern, improv quilter accompanied by a trunk show.
Color Stories is a 1-hour lecture that takes a deep dive into the exploration and application of color theory for quilters.
Classes
I offer a variety of classes:
Basic Quilting Techniques for the Modern Quilter: from basic walking foot quilting techniques to thread selection and embellishment, elevate your quilting to enhance the overall impact of your quilt design.
Log Cabin-ish Quilt Composition: This class covers how to create dynamic improv compositions using a ruler-free blocks construction technique that is both freeing and fun.
Color Stories I: This fun non-sewing workshop is a hands-on exploration of color interaction. Students will come away with confidence to create their own unique color stories and using color in more effective ways.
Color Stories II: This is a full day class that starts with exploring color interaction and color theory fundamentals. Students will build their own unique color palette to create a 12 to 20 inch mini-quilt.
Modern Improv Toolbox: Learn how to incorporate various non-ruler block construction techniques to design quilts without a pattern.
Quilt Design Inspiration: Students will bring an inspiration image or story board to class to be used as the basis of an improv quilt. Learn my step by step process of taking an image and translating it into an abstract design that is unique to the maker.
Quilt Commissions
Let’s collaborate to create a one-of-a-kind textile piece. As an artist, it’s so gratifying to enrich someone’s life with a special quilt.
“I can’t take my eyes off this quilt. It’s getting rave reviews! You are very talented.“ [quote from a customer]
