Rhapsody in Blue, 2019

Rhapsody in Blue is a quilt born from the challenge of translating the essence of a photograph into an abstract, improvised design. Inspired by an image in a magazine, I focused on the color palette and mood it evoked, capturing the feeling of place and atmosphere. The dark background was deliberately chosen to make the striped motif stand out and glow. This piece explores the relationship between color, light, and abstraction, where the interplay of simple forms conveys a deeper emotional connection to the landscape that inspired it.

Juried into Pacific International Quilt Festival, 2019

Note: I offer a workshop on improv abstraction, where participants learn how to use photos or images as inspiration to create their own unique designs. Please reach out to me if you are interested.
