Nuance was created for a Modern Quilt Guild’s Black & White challenge, where I focused on introducing value gradients using only black and white fabrics. The name is a tongue-in-cheek suggestion that something as stark as black and white can hold nuance. Through clever piecing techniques, I created subtle shifts in tone, demonstrating how even a limited color palette can convey complexity and dimension. This quilt turns simple contrasts into a layered, nuanced design.
