The Lost Coast, 2019

Lost Coast is inspired by the magical landscape of Fern Canyon, located on California’s rugged north coast. Using a variety of cottons, including discharged and hand-dyed fabrics, I aimed to distill the essence of this breathtaking place into a quilt. The design evokes the vertical ferns, the delicate mist of water falling softly from the sky, and the lush, verdant greenness that defines the canyon.

I visited this place while still reeling from my failed marriage, and it became a place of healing. The canyon’s serenity and beauty provided a much-needed refuge, offering both peace and renewal during a difficult time. Through color, texture, and form, Lost Coast captures not only the natural wonder of this landscape but also its deeply restorative qualities, reflecting a personal journey of growth and healing.
