Fire & Ice is an exploration of contrasting colors, built on the foundation of log cabin blocks. The quilt is pieced improvisationally in two distinct color schemes—cool blues and fiery reds—creating a dynamic collision of warmth and chill. By varying the values and hues, I added depth and movement, allowing the cool tones of the blues to interact with the intense, vibrant reds. The result is a striking visual tension that captures the energy and balance of opposites.
